I am thinking of buying a dvd recorder and was wondering if i can transfer my video collection to dvd ie play video and then record on dvd.
You know like tape to tape but in this case tape to dvd.
Hope someone can help.

Re: Dvd Recorders a question?
Tapes transfer without any problems via a scart cable provided they aren't copy protected. Even using the 4 hour play time the quality is still OK. I would be careful about buying the Philips at the moment, I've had three and 2 have been duff. Searching the web you will find many people have had grief.

Re: Dvd Recorders a question?
I bought a Philips 880 a few months ago to transfer much of my tape collection to DVD. It worked perfectly - no probs. Guess I was lucky.

I have a Panasonic DMRE-50, done the same, put 4hrs worth onto a disc no probs, although I rarely burn over 3hrs to disc

Re: Dvd Recorders a question?
def get the panasonic version ram and get the e 60 not 50 if you want to convert from digital camcorder .I cannot reccomend these machines enough.Ocer 50% of the machines in japan are ram format Philips are doing and ok job of marketing but know its another v2000 (video recorder the least used longterm of the video formats ,yes even less than betamax).
