Dvd Recorders

I am thinking of buying a DVD recorder as I would like to transfer my video collection to DVD.

I know there is Panasonic and Phillips both make Dvd recorders.

Can you advise me if any others make dvd recorders and what is the best one and most reliable one to buy.

I'm sure it will probably be cheaper to buy at Christmas but would like some advice as the best one to buy.
