Sorry Woodgnome. I was in the pub as usual. Purely for the purpose of researching the Licensing Laws you understand. Been doing a lot of that lately.

I think you hit the nail on the head re Euro Convention on Human Rights but who is going to fund such an action. Not David Sullivan thats for sure. Also I cant remember the piece of legislation that states each EC member state can define its own laws on censorship. I`m not really up to scratch on europe but I think it is similar to the situation we have in this country re pub opening hours. Why cant customers of pubs take the government to the Euro Ct for breaching thier human rights by forcing them to go home at 11 when elsewhere in europe people can stay in bars until 3am or until the bar owner decides hes closing. The government have some get out clause but I cant remember what its called.

I think if a case was taken to Europe the gov/bbfc would lose and r18 could be sold by mail order. I also think the r18 guidlines with their "notion of harm" and "current interpretation of the OPA" nonesense would also stand a chance of being overturned in the long run. If films with pissing etc in dont cause harm in europe how can they cause harm here?

Perhaps I should think about this sometime when I have not been researching in my local pub as I feel confusion descending upon me like a grey mist.

I`m glad to hear it Marcus. Its always nice to see the police get stuffed in court. Criminal cases are different though. Your costs were presumably awarded out of central funds which often happens when someone is found not guilty or the court throws the case out. A civil case against the bbfc or government would be different. Assuming you won you would have to chase them for your costs and they would argue over every penny.

If I win the lottery I`ll fund a case against them. It would be money well spent and I reckon a good chance of winning.

Magoo,
For some strange reason, recently you've been in a bitter and twisted mood. I love you-why not mail me personally which, since you DO know me is confidential-SECRET)

Magoo, I attempted to keep my explanation as simple as possible, obviously the man in the street has no idea what CFA's are and has no idea what Callery vs Gray is all about. It was the principal I was trying to get over.

I'll leave any Legal issues to you in future, I guess you must be legally qualified.

Which parts of my explanation do you not agree with?

"if i win the lottery..." - aye, there's the rub!

why don't people with lots of money ever do anything interesting with it?

for instance - someone with a bit of dosh and devil-may-care could set up a non-profit making chain of sex shops, just to annoy u-know-who; or perhaps, indulge themselves by financing some of the most sumptuous porn films ever seen; or... take the government to court in a noble attempt to establish our rights as citizens, once and for all.

any rich people out there who fancy being hailed as heroes by the common wo/man?
