Funny Adverts

Post by Ace »

Angus posted about an embarrasing one, but how about 'funny adverts'?
I think the new Fosters is excellent (Don't lose your head) but also excellent is the Nike advert where Musical Chairs is the theme. I don't follow basketball, but I imagine the player is a 'name' in the game.
For those yet to see it, it is regularly played on Sky Sports where the 'full' version is shown

Various Irn Bru adverts regularly tickle the funny bone. I also like the new Foster's one, but the previous ones (in particular the Feng Shui) on the "he who drinks Australian thinks Australian" were also classics.

The worst are the ones which are supposed to be funny. After the first time, and you haven't laughed at the "joke"---and you know you're going to have to endure it for months. One from many moons ago that fell into this category was the Jewson "it's so funny if we replace fucking with Jewson" advert. I swear you could see the tumbleweed blowing through.

The John Smiths ones are quite good with Peter Kay.

I like the one where he is sending his mother to an old folks home cos he wants to put a snooker table in her room & the kids are scared of her 'tash'.

Agreed. "But I'm only fifty-whatever!"

We need Steve's input for amusing ads of yesteryear. Leonard Rossiter and Joan Collins selling Cinzano, for example, would be right up his street.

As far back as I can remember, Fosters have done good ads, with perhaps Paul Hogan as an exception.
Feng Shui was brilliant, as was the robot who ends up shagging the vacuum and microwave.
Bit of Steve56 now, who remebers the 'Tickle it you wrigglers' catchphrase of Fosters in about 1995......they were good 'uns too

Funnest advert I've ever seen was for "Shake & Vac". Had some bird doing a dance & singing a silly song as she shook some powder over the carpet then cleaned it! It was dire!!
