Has anyone caught the advert of Elton John promoting Champions League on Sky Sports? singing "are you ready, are you ready for love, YES I AM, Ohhhhhhhh yeah" wearing a tracksuit and a spikey hairdo?

What a fucking CUNT!!!! If they were trying to make the most cringingly awful peice of television ever then they did a pretty good I reckon. Maybe next time they can get Jamie Oliver, ITV's Trisha, Ronan Keating, Davina Mcall and the cast of 'Loose Women' involved. :-/

yes, i too hate that advert. i hate the song (after all, how many people, footy watching people no less, actually listen to Elton?), for ages i thought it was a poor Elton lookalike until friends told me otherwise.
the ad also pisses me off because i don't have sky, so its showing me all the footy i CAN'T watch this season. I used to watch Champs league as i've got ITV2 and ITV news channel, but SKY have nicked that too.

lol i kno what u mean i thought it was a spoof originally, even tho the songs 25 years old i woulda thought eltons vaster songwriting experience woulda told him what i can tell him as a 20 year old, that those lyrics are sooo wronnnng for that song, it just doesnt gel properly at all (for me neway) i expect some of u will disagree but its way too upbeat and all over the place, maybe why it was ignore for 25 years but back to the point, the adverts appalling....

Once again Sports Administrators loose the plot...obviously doing their own marketing

We had a similar fiasco a few tears back with Rugby League

They went from one of the best marketing campaigns EVER-Tina Turner & Jimmy Barnes belting out Simply the Best

They followed this up with Thomas kenneally a noted writer and staunch republican reading a poem about the Game.
