"It's still possible that the dragon is not a dragon at all, but one of many kinds of monitor lizards, all of which are carnivores". Which, of course, it is: Varanus niloticus, I think.......
Depressing ignorance again from the Beeb: of COURSE it's not a bleedin' dragon: dragons are only found in fairy stories.
Sheeeessshhh.........and BTW, they're NOT all carnivores: at least, many are facultatively frugivorous (that is, they eat fruit when they can't get fruitbat).

Isn't that the same Komodo Dragon in both pix? How did it manage to travel between the two places without being spotted? It must have been by plane. What does that tell us about airport security?

It tells us that, very wisely, airport staff won't mess with a dirty great Komodo Dragon, even if he hasn't got a boarding-pass.
My breath has been known to have a similar effect on impertinent Revenue-Protection officials..............

Sounds like a load of baloney to me

Komodos are known for their legendary speed
Quicker than the human eye apparently

Then again if the locals are spaced out on opium
anything would be possible

If Dogs & kitties have been disappearing I'd check out the the closest Asian takeaway...isn't Beirut part of Asia-Minor....if memory serves me correctly

cheers
