Disabled People

Hi, I've been in a wheelchair for 29 of my 48 years, and I always say thank you. But you must remember this, if I need help I ask, if I then get help I say thank you. Alot of abled people are arseholes too, and we all have bad days, you see I belive I was brought up with manners. And by the way i did do 6 years in the Royal Navy so conscription " Dickhead " dose not change your out look on being a cripple. If anything it helps you too cope with getting on with live. Even when the attitude of some able bodied people could get you down. " Get a fucking life, I have "

Now to your points, I have to daily put up with dickhead able bodied people parking in front of down kerbs, parking in disabled bays, building shops,houses,pubs,etc,etc with stupid steps, and doors, I can't get through,parking on my drive way as they want to walk their fucking dogs.

I would also love to use public transport the same way you all seem to be able to do, shop with out haveing to ask for help, like you all can do, use a restaurant, cafe and yes even a sex shop like you all can do.

Live a week in my chair, then see if you too don't get a little pissed off with the able bodied world at times. Thank you for reading this, now try a little thought before you deride all disabled people.

After all I am only " disabled " because of the lack of thought from the "abled". But I will always be a cripple.

There is one thing in a similar vein that annoys me. It is when there are double swing doors at the entrance to a shop or store and that people going in opposite to me will wait for me to go through instead of using the other half of the doors. If I find people waiting to go through in the same direction as me I use the other door and say to them "this half works as well" and go through.

I appreciate your honesty, and as I stressed this wasn't a thread for forumites accusing me of being insensitive. You are correct that there is a large majority of able-bodied people that are arseholes that make your everyday tasks seem more of a struggle than they already are.
Whilst I am sure you don't want my pity or sympathy, Im sure you will accept my apologies if this thread did offend. Im sure you have bad days as well as good, and it may have been I encountered this gentleman on a shitty day......we all have them.

Thanks Ace ( my skin is far to thick to be offended ) and Nosey, I have no problem with people putting forward their views or experiences, at least the "Disabled matter" is being brought up, be it in a good or bad light.
