this was the best film bbc have showed for months,great acting from de niro/pacino seem to recall it being out dont think it was very old.

Did you know that there was only one scene where Robert and Al appeared together, the coffee drinking scene? The other footage of them in the same segments (bankraid and chase at the end) was filmed seperately and the scene at the end is a body double for Pacino, hence a backshot of him.
Excellent film nevertheless.

Did you also know Steve it was directed by Michael Mann who did Miami Vice in the 80's?

no i never knew that,i dont recall seeing them at the time i watched a series called hunter with a bloke that looked like jack nicholson think hes name was fred dwyer it was on itv sat nights about 85

Fred Dryer used to be a pro footballer.
Played for the NY Giants & L.A Rams.

I used to love that show as a kid.

All of Stephen J.Cannells shows had cars that would do corkscrew twists over the smallest of ramps and nobody would be decapitated. They'd just crawl out looking real groggy.

think it was late 90s nice little show not overdone like some u.s.imports quite liked the new burkes law but preferred the orig,ps i never knew fred was a pro footballer ive only seen him in hunter

Heat is actually a remake of a film Mann made for television during the 80's called LA Takedown. It's been shown on tv a few times and is fascinating to watch regarding changes and improvement. And look out for Violent Streets (a.k.a. Thief) starring James Caan from the early 80's, another criminal goodie. Mann also made Manhunter - the original film version of Red Dragon, which in Brian Cox had a Dr Lector vastly superior to Hopkins' jokey scenery-chewer. Mann recently stubbed his toe with Ali, but Heat is still immense.

Can't stand him, hes a smug bastard who KNEW he was mega-huge after Miami Vice, hence his venture into singing!!
Nash Bridges IS good but because of the star, Don Johnson, I just can't get into it.

Watched it at the flicks ..... well over rated ! drawn out and looks like a made for tv movie ......

THE KEEP ..... now thats a good MANN film ......lol
