iirc, they were never directly in the same shot in the coffe shop, either; you only see the face of one and the shoulder of the other in the same frame.

i suppose that could be down to the way mann chose to shoot it but it does seem an extremely odd decision, when you've got one of the most eagerly aniticipated rematches in contemporary cinema on your hands.

fwiw, i don't think they were never on set together. whatever the fact of the matter, it's certainly one of the most overrated films in recent history.

With Cheech Marin as his sidekick Cop it doesn't have a lot of credibility

Long term dope smoking Cheech becomes a cop---sounds like a comedy to me

I think it is excellent, but the one drawback is the length of the film, 3 hours. Theres only a few films that you can watch of a time of that much, the best being DeNiro's 'Once Upon A Time In America' at 4 hours. Epic isn't a good enough word for this film that I recently got on DVD in its entirety.

You're right.
They weren't on set together.
Just a clever use of camera angles blah blah.

Personally, I couldn't really be arsed with this film.
Sick to the back teeth of hearing how wonderful DeNiro & Pacino are.
At the end of the day, they usually play pissed off Italians etc.

The US equivalent of Phil Mitchell or Ray Winstone.
Don't get me wrong, I like Ray but when does he ever play anything other than pissed off EastEnder?

Still.....Holden MacGroyn

BUT WITHOUT MY BRUCE LEE SIG BECAUSE HE'S TOO HARD FOR THIS PLACE...

OUATIA - Another terrific film. And a good example of just how comprehensively studios can famously fuck-up. The film was taken away from Leone and initially released in a crassly edited 2 hour version. Result? ridicule and box-office poison. It was then put out on video without any fanfare in its original 4 hour version. Result? sky-rocketing acclaim and a massive following. This is the film that set the whole 'director's cut' ball rolling. Masterful stuff.

I'll be honest I can't remember their films(No i wasn't stoned when i watched them))
apart from the obvious that they paid numerous roles

The only scenes that spring to mind were Chong with his Motorbike in the lounge room-exhaust out the window killing the neighbours prised roses

His episode in the van which sounded like a serious Sex scene

The sex scene episode with the maid which left them shaking, sweating & in need of a drip

Must rent some of their movies to become reaccquainted

Timeless classics-just can't remember any of the titles

Quoting Billy Joel songs left right & centre from 1978

Up In Smoke 1978....

How I forgot Up In Smoke is beyond me
I've got the audio tape

One of my favourite songs
