What can be shown on TV?

Post by chrissie »

I am confused about what can be shown on TV. The other night a film was on one of the Sky movie channels called 'Intimacy', and in it the main woman - Kerry Fox - gives a bloke a BJ - you can clearly see her closing her mouth around him and sucking. - it may be brief but it is obvious.

How is this allowed and yet the so called 'porn channels' don't show such things?

For any doubters, if you go to Robs Celebrities, you can see the stills from the film in question.

Yours in bewilderment (a suburb of jeopardy)

Baise Moi is availble on DVD & you can buy it in HMV, Virgin Record Stores etc.. as it has been passed by the censors. As has Romance another French film which contains scenes of oral sex & an erect penis. The other films have been shown in cinemas after passing the censor & all contain strong sex scenes.

Will they ever be shown on TV?.......maybe one day if the rules about what is permissable to be shown are changed.

Sky TV is still governed by the ITC as their programmes are transmitted from the UK, so have to conform to ITC rules !!
We film and produce films for TVX which have to conform to ITC rules, however we also make ones for Amsterdam which do not have to be restricted.
Britain has funny sex laws, have you relised a young couple, male/male or male/female can have legal consenting sex at 16 years old, but yet that same couple can not buy a film watching people having sex till they are 18 years old !! told you Britain was funny.
All I can say is keep putting pressure on the ITC that for satellite stations that require a card to watch their programmes, you the public should be treated as adults in a so called free society and demand the showing of unresticted adult material.
