Pc DVD Burner Question !

As they have come down to about 99 quid ....

How many gig's worth of stuff can you get on a blank dvd ?

How much are blanks ?

And are they really Burn proof ?

Can they burn standard cd's - cd-r's ?

Would it mind if I called it Doris ?

Way too many questions Dongy, for a young scally like you! as I know fuck all about PC dvd burners I cant answer your original question, why not get yerself down to PC World and blag some free information, assuming you can find someone to help you! anyway are you actually thinking of "buying" one, whats wrong with your usual scources!

Firstly give them Opaque tights back!!!.

Secondly, yes you can get a decent DVD Burner for around ?99. If i were you have a look at www.blankdiscshop.co.uk

You can hold 4.38Gig on a single DVD-R thats around 2hours if you do not compress it. If yyoucompress it you could get upto 4hours, but the quality would be crap.

Blank Discs can be brought from 70pence upto ?3 / ?4 each. It is worth mentioning this, i used to buy cheap discs and i had a lot of problems with them playing in different DVD's. So go for something like a Ritek GO4 which is 80pence each.

Yes they are Burnproof, Yes you can Burn CD-R's, and no it would hate the name Doris, Olwyn would be better.

Using Pinnacle Studio 8 to create DVDs I only get 1hour uncompressed and it takes about 4 hours to burn and uses 10gig of space for auxiliary files on top of the 20gig for 1 hour of captured video. Its very memory intensive!

The results are worth it though.
