He'll go, sooner if not later. And the dreaded blues will doubtless insert some poor, hapless 'dummy' leader in his place until the party infrastructure finally manages to shape itself into something a bit more cohesive. How long this will take is anyones guess, but they really must be pissing themselves over at Millbank. It's just sad when it gets like this.

For democracy to at least appear to work, you need an effective opposition. The Tories are currently doing what Labour did in the early 1980s, making a government that should be under the cosh get away with whatever it wants.

Having said that, I could live with the prospect of the Tories never being in power again.

I'm ambivalent too for that same reason: a pity the Lib Dems can't translate local success into national, then we'd have a decent three-horse race whe the Tories snap out of their blue funk and better real representation.
At least the Tories pay lip-service to decentralisation (the only true manifestation of democracy), although their governmental track-record suggests, like 'Labour', that they're happier with Big Government.

My sentiments entirely!!!. I've always thought that politicians, or should I say all people who enter politics, only do so because they cannot do the jobs they trained for. Just look at all lawyers and medical people in Parliament!!!.

I happen to think he conducted himself with dignity and grace. If I had backstabbers and brown noses in MY party, I would ask them to step outside for a 'chat'. That would stop shit stirring and two-faced bastards
