Its all down to Culture & History ain't it

In Australia we have National Barbecue Day

Once a week every Sunday

Certainly beats the Queens Birthday handsdown
Although I must thank the Queen for the Public Holiday that somehow comes in June and not April in Australia

cheers

This links T-or-T rather to All Saint's/Souls/Hallows than Hallowe'en. Interesting point, if true, about the Northern origin: all the sources I've seen 'blame' it on the Irish.
It certainly seems only to have come into vogue (again?) here in the past 20 years.

[And did they get a prize for mentioning the History Channel 752 times?]

"a harmless drudge, that busies himself in tracing the original, and detailing the
signification...."
