Penalties

Post by Ace »

We 'got one' against Newcastle yesterday. Shouldn't have been given NOR should O'Brien have gone. I hold my hand up and say that was a flattering scoreline, but its 3 welcome points.
Liverpool on the other hand had a blatant penalty turned down when Rio pulled down a player. It was SO fucking obvious. I think referee's should hold their hands up and say 'I fucked that one up. lads' but of course they won't.
I actually wanted the Scousers to beat the Mancs yesterday......although I never actually cheered in the pub when they got one back.
I DID go off my head 4 times when 'we' scored. I actually missed the first goal when I took a piss

The West London of my youth is now on dvd

They can only call it as they see it Ace....When you consider the pace of the game and the fact that they have one view/angle at full speed I think they get it pretty right most of the time....if they got it right all of the time they wouldn't be human...would they?

No slow-mo replay from 3 different angles out in the middle

Maybe you'd prefer a football game to go for 3/4/5 hours like Grid Iron
while they check everything on video?

cheers

More to the point, whenm are FIFA gonna 'fair up' the Rule?
Striker shoots, goalie makes blinding save, bystander pops it in. Goal.
So goalie does his job properly, one on one, and then gets punished again for his temerity, by having the goal awarded anyway.
If he saves it, it should immediately become a dead-ball. Natural justice. Otherwise, why bother having the goalie there? He might as well sit on the touch-line while the kick's taken.

If Refs piss you of so much why don't you rectify the situation and become one yourself...think you could do a better job?

No.....I didn't think so

Until you've walked a mile in their shoes you don't have the right to criticise
IMHO

Do refs wear shoes?
Wouldn't boots be more appropriate?

You'd do well to see it again on tv, Ace. Not so blatant. As one who with my Theatre of Dreams colleagues invaded GiroLand yesterday to see us pick up an incredibly easy 3 points apart - from the last 10 minutes - I confess that in real time I thought it was going to be given, especially at Anfield.

Replays see it differently and the cheating bastard didn't get the penalty he so obviously wanted.

But.............the Big Red Machine lumbers along even when we are playing total crap.

Another Rules point: if referees applied the Law consistently and firmly, and sent-off these cheating bastards, then the ploy would be dead in the water.
They never seem to use Ungentlemanly Conduct either: perhaps because of the pressure from the money-men.

I'm shocked that you can be cynical to suggest that the noble sport of football is run by accountants and economists and that everyone---players, refs, fans---have to dance to their tune.

You're right in one respect. A cheating, diving bastard should be sent off immediately for contempt: trying to fool the ref.
