You know that Mary had a little lamb
She kept it in a bucket
Every time the lamb fell out
The ram would try to F**k it.

Another Mary had a little lamb
She also had a bear
I've often seen her little lamb
But never seen her bare.

Oh, they were all doing that.
Wasn't a personable bit of male arm-candy considered THE fashion accesssory?

Yes, much previous received wisdom has it that certain parts of Ancient Greece (especially Sparta) saw a social system which encourage older men to 'mentor' young boys. But it was strictly supposed to be non-physical ; the term used being agape. But it wasn't, obviously and it often became a pederast's charter.

Recent writing and interpretation places much less emphasis and importance to this. It may well be that it simply wasn't as rife as the gay lobby has previously made it seem. Political correctness has much to answer for even in classical historiography. I mean, is Martin Bernal's stuff shite or what ?

Ancient Greece was a very heirarchical, socially vertical society and open homosexuality was frowned upon as not the done thing. There is more than circumstantial evidence to suggest that's why Socrates was executed. And it certainly helps to explain why Alcibiades was left to swing in the wind even after a brilliant political career and a less than sparkling military coda.
Even the Greeks thought Alcibiades led a life of personal excess and debauchery and why they encouraged his murder in Phrygia.

And personally, I think sex with young boys is perverted. Call me old-fashioned, jj...............

As I recall, his father slipping it to young boys was what started the tragedy of Oedipus. The old sod gets off lightly by being killed by his son while the innocents, Jocasta, Oedipus and their children, suffer the true horrific vengeance of the gods. Odd folk, the ancient Greeks.

Bit complicated, that divine justice thingy.
Some very ingenious retributions, though.............

these questions and similar is answered in the book 'jesus the man' by the australian thologian barbara theirling.

he survived the cross and the marriage at cannan was his to mary madelaine, they and their children sailed to southern france and lived there.

this and other myths are explained - feeding the 5000 for example, and the political goings on - judus escariot was a terrorist; the escariot refering to a knife which he used for assasinations.

it also annoyed the jewish leaders that jesus advocated making it easier to convert to judaism, so as to bring god to the gentiles e.g. not making cicumcision mandatary and less restricive dietry laws and ritual about mestruation.

i'm not reglious - i'm an atheist, but an informed atheist.
