Wales humbled/ Scotland thrashed

Post by Wink Wink »

Well it's all over for Wales & Scotland.

The Welsh were outplayed by the Russians (0-1) & Scotland hammered by Holland (0-6)

That tantilising dream broken! Still well done for making it so far your countrymen can be proud of you.

The future looks bright for both countries to qualify for the next World Cup

Now all the Scots need is for the 2 Major Scottish teams to start playing Scottish youngsters and not b-grade ex-premier league pensioners

The Welsh just need to put their best team on the park for every match

Maybe putting Bellamy in a padded room between matches might of help

cheers

Might have been different had Wales been at full strength......but the Scots have to learn that Celtic/Rangers fielding 11 foreigners is possibly not the best way to build for a decent national side.

i fancied wales to do it tonight, but feel they should have played 2 up front from the start and go for it, hartson had nobody to knock the ball down to most of the time.
always felt scotland needed more than 1 goal lead from the home leg.

I agree with you Colin, I really thought Wales would do it. I started watching the Holland-Scotland match as I thought it might get a bit tasty but it was sadly not to be.

Why didn't Wales bring on Robert Hearnshaw earlier. He's lively, quick and I reckon can score goals at most levels.

What odds Mark Hughes off into club management soon ?

It'd be a shame if he did, since he's been a breath of fresh air to the Welsh national side. After Saturday I hoped they'd make it.

As for us, well, same old story. And I think things may get worse (rumours of more clubs in financial troubles) before they get better. Celtic and Rangers do the best they can for their countries---the trouble is their countries are Ireland and England.

Gus Hidink(spelling?) showed what could be achieved with a National Side(South Korea) when you have the time to prepare properly as a team not just a group of individuals coming together every now and then

Is there any reason why a young Scotland National Side couldn't enter into the Scottish League say a year out from each major championship.Obviously they wouldn't be eligible to win it

Playing as a team is all important just ask Australia
who have failed every time to qualify for the World Cup because they are only a group of individuals and not a team who plays regularly together

If the World Cup meant anything there would be at least a 4/6 week lead up to it for players to refresh get over injuries and train properly
Once every 4 years and as was shown in South Korea all the big name players were either injured or jaded

Proving once again Clubs really hold the whip hand regardless of what the FIFA regulations say

Clubs just don't give a toss about the National Team because they are businesses not sporting clubs

cheers

yes bit of a shame about the Scottish and Welsh defeats, both to be expected of course, pity Wales didn?t have Bellamy and Simon Davies to add that attacking threat, Scotland will need to accept they are going to get a few good humpings in the next couple of years, its painful but it has to be done to blood the new players coming through the ranks, I personally blame previous manager Craig Brown for the plight we are in, because once he was finished the cupboard was very bare. As to the comments on Rangers and Celtic fielding mainly foreigners, I do not particularly see the big clubs in England, Arsenal, Man U, Liverpool Chelsea exactly bursting with English players, will be interesting to see if Chelsea win the league this year what the response of the others will be with regard to what money they spend and what foreigners they bring in.
