So that simply means that if you are in Armed Forces you get a ribbon??.
Another little query for you Bimmercat. As you receive the Purple Heart for
being wounded in action, do you receive posthumous medal after getting killed?

No flak from me, BC. Another good example of how this particular genre is far better as a platform for making broad, universal points on the subject, rather than handling the intricate workings/politics of actuality. See also: Apocalypse Now, All Quiet on the Western Front, the underrated Casualties of War, and the sublime Paths of Glory.
