I knew Briggs was in 'Up the Khyber'. Played one of the 'devils in skirts'. For some unknown reason even to myself, I love some of the mid-sixties 'Carry On' films.

But I didn't know about Mitchell being a wonderful 208 dj. What stuff did he play, I wonder. He was in a 'Carry On' film. He played one of the slave traders Marcus and Spencius in 'Carry on Cleo', the series absolute meisterwerk.

I remember a scene in a Norman Wisdom film where they are at sea, Mike Baldwin was one of the sailors. He had a few lines, but remained uncredited on the titles.

The West London of my youth is now on dvd

The sea film was probably "The Bulldog Breed". I believe he was only 12 years old in first film in 1947. He was also in "633 Squadron" as was Angus Lennie who played Shughie McFee in the original Crossroads. Did you know that Howard Keel's proper name was Harold LEEK, and Boris Karloff was born William Pratt and our own Stewart Granger was actually James Lablanche Stewart? He had to change his name because there was another actor of the same name already in Hollywood.

I'm not a Norman Wisdom fan, but the scene in 'The Bulldog Breed' where he is wearing the diving suit and can't walk due to the lead boots never ceases to have me watching with tears of laughter.
