I don't know, I just don't know........................
I met Sting and Andy Summers when they were in The Police in HK in 1980, and both were top blokes who spent 30 mins with me. Sting spoke like Neville from Auf Weidershen, pet.......a strong Geordie accent. I followed his career for a year before he started poncing about saving Rain Forests.
He was on Parkinson last night and I laughed at his *new* accent and his poncy up-my-own-arse delivery answering questions. He claims he is still a northern working-class Geordie, but on THAT evidence last night, they'd string him up in Gateshead if he visited his roots in the near future.
Great musician, but now a 'luvvie' with Madonna et al as his friends

Re: Sting
Somebody has got to stop the World from killing the Worlds forests
Left unchecked we might as well committ suicide tomorrow given the consequences of doing nothing
I'm not a big fan of Sting or Bono-musically-but they have championed good causes that would otherwise be left to governments to fix
which means never
Just like Princess Diana taking on Land Mines
I truly believe if you lay it you should be required to remove it
cheers

Re: Sting
sting always kinda bored me despite writing some great tracks in the 80s. he fluctuates in and out of twattish/humorless/over seriousness but at least he isnt bono....who i wish to kill...for being generally shit. U2 are one of the most overrated bands and that One song is a nothing song - yet everyone fucking loves it...hmpf

Re: Sting
We can all be cynical about Motives but either way it is still good for these MAJOR issues to be brought under public scrutiny
Otherwise it would be left to the Powers that be who only care about economics.
They seem somehow unable to grasp that Mother Earth & Economics need to be running side by side.
This idea off many politicians that
science will provide all the long term solutions is a dangerous gamble at best
cheers

Re: Sting
He's done 3 great tracks post-Police in my view :
1. Englishman in New York
2. Fields of Gold
3. You Don't Know What Love Is (from Jazz Trumpeter Guy Barker's 'What Love Is' album)
Apart from the above he is a pompous self-serving fuckwit who is desperate to find something artistically or socially credible to do because he probably thinks he's too grand or intelligent just to be remembered for a few pop songs ; poor luvvie's suffering from post pop star ennui.
He needs to spend lots more time with his ugly horse-faced wife having tantric sex and mutiple orgasms.
