Mickey Rourke

Post by Ace »

A pity this once excellent actor turning up on Graham Norton last night looking washed up. His honesty regarding twats like Tom Cruise and Charlie Sheen got him blacklisted, and he didn't care at the time, but look where they are now and where he is, makes you wonder if you should keep yer mouth shut.
Anyone notice he had a Petit (17) Chelsea top on backwards. Can only think as Emirates is our sponsor, it would give the impression that he supports Arabs as he famously did with the IRA in the 80's. Americans think ALL arabs are terrorists

He was good in Angel heart, with Rob de Nero, I agree he has the potential to be a fine actor, but has he had some major plastic surgery done? or is he just older.

He famously turned down two major roles that made Cruise and Sheen major stars, notably Top Gun and Platoon. He rates their work in these films as 'shit' and was happy to say that neither could act their way out of a paper bag. Bitter comes to mind.
Films to watch that Ace would recommend are;
Rumblefish, Diner, Angel Heart, Barfly and the brilliant 'Pope of Greenwich Village'
If you cant get these, email me direct
9 1/2 weeks is good, if dated and Prayer for the Dying is so-so, but avoid anything from 1990 onwards

Mickey has Irish roots and supported IRA and their US fund raisers, Noirad. When 'Prayer for the Dying' was released in 88, Mickey said on Wogan of his support for the IRA. As a result, the film bombed as people who wanted to see Rourkes latest offering were disgusted at this claim and steered clear of this 'sympathiser and supporter'
Not his greatest career move, you have to admit!!
