Ronnie O'Sullivan

Post by goldenballs »

I'm sure he's been talked about on here before due to his porn shop links, but i was just watching a bit of the snooker, and he was playing Hendry.
What's the deal with him? He looks like a complete junkie, either he's got a drug problem, used to have a drug problem or just looks plain gormless all the time.

anyone know the facts?

He's had a lot of problems. He has been talking of quitting snooker cos his mind is very mixed up at the moment. He did spend sometime in The Priory at some stage.

I was wondering when someone would remark on his appearance. Is there not a dress and appearance code in snooker any more? He can still play a bit though!!!!!!

Yes, the dress code is pure snobbery. I believe it started up in the States in an attempt to make the game look more "respectable".
Smacks of the same attitudes which led mining community choirs to dress up in "Penguin outfits". Call it inverted snobbery on my part but I see it as a betrayal of Socialism and the working class.

whoa! that's a bit strong.
I don't see what's wrong with a game that keeps some of the traditions from the old days. I think they look better now than they did in the 80s though, the bow tie's got a bit stuffy looking, but i think they all look pretty smart these days. I'd rather see it like this than if they all wore jeans or dressed like darts players with their nickname sequened (sp?) onto their backs.
As far as i'm aware the americans have got nothing to do with the dress codes, snooker/billiards players in the UK have dressed like that since snooker began.
