We in Australia seem to buy all the popular shows from the UK & US of A
which most of the time isn't a bad thing given the dire crap our actors produce ie neighbours,home & away....soapie drivel

I rate Friends for the theme tune and nothing else....too many dweebs in 1 cast....it has its moments but compared to other comedy shows misses the mark big time with me.

We had a similar(in that is was family friendly) comedy called Hey Dad that ran for 12/13 years...was the most tedious/repetitive show i've ever had the misfortune to watch(forced) on occasions and yet it won awards for years on end

Hmmm!!! I'm not necessarily doubting the story but funny how it's almost become fashionable with some celebs to have been abused.

His show - which I like a lot - is cleverly edited for sure, but if you look close enough the idea of them as dysfunctional is, like the Simpsons, something of a myth. They function like all families - fractiously, but the breadth of communication between them quite something, and an odd form of togetherness lies firmly beneath. That dysfunctional tag could only be brought about through a fixed idea of how families should operate anyway, which perhaps says something about media perception.
