Save your money and buy a case of Scotch.
I guarantee you'll have a better time.......although you may not remember much of it. ;-)

I think the answer depends pretty much on the age of "your boy" and the type of games he wants to play.I have an X-box and a gamecube myself.I do find the X-box far superior to both the other consoles but i have the gamecube for the mario type exclusive games. The graphics on the X-box are far better than the PS2 and the old problem with the higher X-box game prices is no longer the case. A tweaked up grand theft auto double pack comes out on X-box in january.

My boy is 7.....but at the end of the day, is the present really for him or me?
:o)
it's great having a boy!
i know it's hard but i don't want him playing violent games.
so, do you think the X Box is suitable for a 7 year old?

ive realised recently that my love of driving games growing up has made me into an excellent driver...i use to think they would hinder but they help with spacial awareness, braking distances, handling, and general basics of what happens.....i expect ppl will disagree but i def think its tru :)

as for violent games, thats a difficult one - a big debate really as about 10 years ago when i was 10 the graphics on violent games werent believable....they are now...almost. gotta wonder if itll have any effect.

ps - medal of honour thus far kicks ass, ive always been totally humbled by the whole war concept and tried to watch as many films and play these games to attain 1% comprehension of the reality my grandfathers faced and i have to say my hearts pounding from holding my breath from playing it ....

my ps2 is the dvd machine i use the most actually deuce as i cant be arsed to move my actual dvd player away from my hifi, and mylaptops fucked at the moment :)

Can't say these reality games have got me by the short & curlies

Its probably a generational thing...I bet if I were 20 I'd have an x-box,PS2
& a game cube

As it is

I still prefer the simple mind card/puzzle games like pyramid that are free at

or the tetris at

and of course pinball at

Each to his own i guess...all non-violent funnily enough...even the games from yesteryear like Galaxian & Space Invaders only killed inanimate
objects

If I'd had my head screwed on this past year when I bought 2 dvd players I might have bought one of these game boxes...old age is here already

cheers

Don't buy either!!!. Make him get out and PLAY sports like rugby, cricket etc we have too many kids growing up who know little about the great outdoors.
