If you really are buying it for your son then a a game cube is your best bet !
the games are more friendly and better designed to be played by younger kids , they are also so well designed so that you to can enjoy and get addicted to them , as Pk One said the exclusive mario type games are so well made they are worth the price of the Cube alone !

The X box is much better than the PS2 but does not have a quater of the games !

also I am older than Deuce ,and I have really started to get into the new breed of games machines !

........ Leave Deuce to his Blinkey Bill Jigsaw .

Definately an X box.
I'm not a big gaming fan, but do like to "pick up and play" occasionaly.
It also comes with a buit in hard drive and ethernet connection and online gaming is superb! (providing you have broadband)
Yes the PS2 has far more games but a vast majority of them are shite.
My two cents...

While i would go for the X-box myself without doubt to write the Gamecube off as just for under 10's is a little excessive. There are a great many games on the cube aimed at adults such as Medal of Honour,Resident evil and the newly released and fantastic XIII.The situation seems to be that X-box aim their exclusives more towards the adult gamer and the Gamecube exclusives are aimed at younger gamers. There is a multitude of great multi-platform games shared among all three consoles. However, the exclusive games i could'nt live without do tend to be on X-box. The total number of games on each console is irrelevant : For every two shit games on X-box there are five on PS2.

If i was in your position i would take him into a game shop and spend 20 minutes or so browsing all the software and see which games he goes for cos at the end of the day it as much as i love my X-box you cant really go wrong with any of the three. All three consoles have great exclusives and its a case of swings and roundabouts. If i was buying with a seven year old in mind i might well buy a Gamecube though because when you buy Mario, luigi and Super monkeyball etc. you can be sure they are ok for young gamers and you are guaranteed to enjoy them yourself. Just come off a 6 1/2 hour mario kart burn-up as i write!!!

Still searching for a decent tetris(one that I can win at)

Maybe pile up(on the top right under arcade) at would be better option

Much more interesting and taxing on the brain than tetris but not an online game sadly

Current score with one eye closed 257,000 level 10

Just about to play with both open-wish me luck

I'm guessing because I'm on dial-up online is not possible or rather clumsy if my playing at on roller boy 2 is anything to go by but the search will continue

cheers
