This piss poor film was on the other night, and I MUST say that the effects looked shoddy at best. I believe the gimmick used at the time was sensurround sound for noise value, but the effects were basically cardboard rocks and a cameraman with epilepsy judging by the camera shake. Worst was cartoon blood flying up the screen when a lift full of people crashed.
Despite all the movement of everything around him, Charlton 'shoot 'em up' Hestons' wig stayed in place.

Re: Earthquake irony
Allegedly, that soundsystem used was too powerful for some theatres, resulting in genuine cracked walls for some.

Re: Earthquake irony
In the 50's, movie theatres in The USA had the seats wired to a low volt generator that gave tingling sensations to the audience watching 'The Shocker (Vincent Price?)' You couldnt do that now with society hell-bent on litigation. A pity, as it does sound a great gimmick. I saw a 'sensurround' film in Hong Kong called Roller-Coaster in 77 which was piss poor, but the noise felt like yer ears were bleeding. Great fun!!

Bollocks! You knew what I was referring to though. Was it Vincent Price though? Hopefully getting THAT right might redeem my error
