Remake

Post by Pervert »

Which cultural icon fantasy/comedy/drama series from the 60s or 70s should be remade and given the big money Hollywood treatment (or the small scale revamp by ITV featuring audience "favourites") and why?

George And Mildred with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman?

The Six Million Dollar Man with Jim Carrey (shit, that's already happening)?

The Sweeney with Ross Kemp and Robson Greene.

The Professionals with Ant and Dec (with Ben Dover as George Cowley)?

Joe 90 with Haley Joel Osman?

Man About The House with Michelle Thorpe, Cathy Barry and Graham Norton?

They should NEVER try to re-make The Sweeney. Without doubt, the best TV drama EVER to appear on Telly.
I watched an episode on Monday, it still stands up well, 29 years on!!

The West London of my youth is now on dvd

whys that Willie? Most regular forumites agree The Sweeney was a brilliant programme, so why try and better something that can't be equalled? IF they did remake it, I think Ray Winstone as Jack Regan would be spot on

And what was wrong with my suggested casting???

How's about Frank Skinner as Regan and David Ba**iel as Carter with that Nosher Harry Hill as Haskins?

I loved it at the time and probably through the first series of repeats or so ; and as a committed nostalgiast I saw a couple again on 'Granada Plus' and thought it hadn't aged very well. Truly a programme of its time, I think.

And.....better comparatively than the crappy plod stuff on the box nowadays. But to me it's in the same TV Museum as ..................(please fill in the spaces).

The best remake was the car ads with Phil Cornwell. But yes, Ray Winstone would be pretty good as Regan. A bloody damn sight better than is Henry VIII.
