I've never really watched an episode of this but I've heard many good reports, anyway I was thinking of buying the complete 1st series on DVD, is it a good purchase.

BC is American, but as a limey, I can fully endorse his entiments. Superb drama and LOTS of violence and brilliant performances especially from James Gandolfini.

The Ali G episode from the Cannes Film Festival - especially with the porno actresses - was pure bliss.
