It was very kind of you to agree to be a sense of humour donor, Giles; sadly, I think you probably needed it more than the recipient.

Okay, not fair, maybe, but I thought the show was pant-wettingly funny. The dynamic of the show very much depends on the guest presenter, so it can occasionally fall flat. But better that than the obvious friction there was in the Deayton days when Merton, in particular, was increasingly frustrated by the smug one's inability to read an autocue. Boris is like something from the pages of Wodehouse (and I think he knows this and plays to it), and has created something almost unique in this country---a likeable Tory.

Once a series is enough from Boris, though, otherwise it would become formulaic.

I actually agree with Giles on this, he is a buffoon and a Tory too boot. (Boris, not Giles) Occaisionally funny, and dry witted, but a guest host ONLY, not full-time. Besides, this show is getting stale

The West London of my youth is now on dvd

although anything is better than angus d. i prefer the idea of guest host one a perminant basis - it shows a wide variety of poeple can do a 'presenters' job and so they don't deserve the high pay.

as with angus - you know you are being paid too much, if you can afford a big coke habit.

as for boris - he's just a buffon - he already gets paid for being an MP, and his former editors job, which on tv, he said he now does as a part time job ( but still paid as fully time) by making his staff work harder. how he warrant any job is beyond me

All MPs have day-jobs.
Explains rather a lot, I always think..........
