Mods, why no graphics allowed in signatures?

Just found a tasteful signature image...

...but checking FAQ, it says they're not allowed. Is it a question of bandwidth, or what? Graphics are allowed in profiles, so presumably there's no bandwidth problem there.

graphics are verboten because, generally speaking, they are tacky and would soon become too bloody annoying for words, as your own example amply illustrates

I'm sorry Magoo that you've been confused with me but Tomsk should know
that i don't use an alias, i've had my say to all his comments & as far as i'm conserned the affair is over after all were professionals. So any other comments Tomsk gets under a different name will be from someone else he as upset.
I got over 90 e-mails of support from amateur & professional people about the thread. I'm sorry Woodgnome if i somehow got my signature wrong,
anyway thanks for everybody's support & i wish everybody (including Tomsk) a Merry Christmas & a happy New Year.
