Any formumites who live in London! what are the best museums/attractions to visit? I am having some time off soon to 'do' the sights, also if anyone can recommend a reasonable priced hotel (?120ish) I only ever go on business so I,m not up to speed on whats what, hotel needs to be fairly central, pref with parking.....I know it,s alot to ask, but all contributions gratefully recieved...............piss takers welcome!

Well as a resident of capital city, I'd recommend going to The British Museum. Nearest tube, Tottenham Court Road. About 5 mins from the station. Stunning place. I spend hours there just getting lost in it.
Also, The Natural History & Science Museum. Both in South Kensington.
Roughly 10 mins from the tube.
All 3 are free apart from the main attractions inside. If you go late in the day, they too become free but you only have 20 mins to look in awe before they haul your arse out.
The London Eye is worth a trip. Roughly ?7 per rotation. Nearest station, Embankment.
As for hotels, the Ibis chain are pretty cheap and clean.
Rooms for less than ?50 per day thru weeks and weekends.
Look for one of those.

If you want a clean, tidy modern hotel then I think that the Holiday Inn Express chain offer pretty good value for money - the web site url is below, I paid about ?80.00 for a night in the Victoria one - don't know about parking though. They have several dotted around London.
Driving around London within the congestion charge zone is a lot easier than it was, parking is easier but expensive ?4.00 -?5.00 per hour in central London - NCPs ?10.00 min for 2 hours. Traffic wardens everywhere and they are totally ruthless - if you are five minutes over at any time it is odds on you will get a ticket (?60.00). One day travel cards after 9.30 are incredible value at ?4.30 - all tubes and buses included.
As for where to go, the usual suspects - The National History Museum, The Science Museum and The V & A are all pretty impressive - don't know about the cost though. If you are arty then the Tate , Tate Modern and the National Portrait Gallery are musts.
A goody and free one is the Wallace Collection in Manchester Square - about 100yds from Selfridges in Oxford Street - brilliant collection of armoury, paintings etc and they have the original Laughing Cavalier! - they have a fabulous restaurant/cafe - very reasonably priced in a very modern setting - it really is different and the food is way above average for this type of place.
If you haven't done it before, try the London Eye (Steve, please refrain from the obvious) it is different gear on a clear day.

Cheers Holden, my mails not working at the moment so I,m just feeding of peeps,ys suggestions, I will of course do the 'eye' and have made a solem promise not to piss out of a window as it reaches the top, war museum is on the agenda, and I will look into the ones you have mentioned, I dont want to do anything but relax and look at the sights, I probably wont even masturbate whilst I,m away, thanks for the hotel info, I know Ibis they seem ok! any good Indian/Italian restaraunts you can reccommend(sp)?

Thanks Chrissie, the Tate will be on the agenda now!, I went to the st ives tate........stunning views, crap exhibition!..just need a reasonable hotel, fairly central, parking if poss, although wont be driving! cheers for your Ideas.
