Bob Monkhouse 1928 - 2003

Bob Monkhouse has died at the age of 75.

I knew he had been very ill with cancer so at least now he will be free from the pain that cancer brings.

Sad to see him go but he was always someone you either loved or hated!

RIP Bob.

while many reguard him as 'cheesey', he was a walking encyclopedia of gags.
i'm sure he will be missed by many who he has entertained over the decades.
he was versetille - game shows, stand up, old style comic, and some comic acting including films [dentist on the etc.] - the only style i don't recall him in is sitcom.
he was also a big charity worker.
goodbye bob - you will be missed.

I couldn't stand his unctious, eye-popping style ; his slavering devotion to The Leaderene hardly endeared him to me either. But.........he knew about comedy and comedians, perhaps more than anyone.

When I was a kid he did a programme (was it called 'Mad Movies' , steve 56/nosey ?) about silent comedy that I liked. His Radio 2 series on Saturdays about comedy was often superb.

Later he introduced some great comedy talent on some other tv series he did. I saw the brilliant US comic Stephen Wright on there for the first time.

Sorry to hear about Bob passing away. I allways remember him from that classic game show 'The Golden Shot'. Who could forget Bernie The Bolt and I seem to recall he had a particularly gorgeous assistant who's name I can't remember.
It's weird how famous stars allways seem to die two or three at a time.

Ditto all the above, not really my cup of tea, but a hardworking comedian, very quick thinking, and 1000 times funnier than Tarbuck, who is only mildy funny if yer a scouser!

Yes, it was Ann Aston.
I didn't like Bobs 'humour' but appreciated that he was VERY good at it. One of the old school IMO and famously questioned 'new age' comedy that he 'didn't get it, sticking yer fingers up yer nose and shouting SNOT!' I had to agree with Bob on that one.
By all accounts, a VERY nice bloke who spent time with contestants off camera as well as on
