Spam help please

Post by Cjm »

For the last few months I have been getting about 100 spam emails a day and it's getting very annoying now. I have certainly not signed up to these mailing lists. I have actually gone through them all for a while unsubcribing from their lists and blocking the email addresses but still they keep coming.
Can someone recommend a program or something that will let me stop this spam from coming. Obviously I need to keep certain things coming in from Ebay and my football mailing list. Please help lol.

Thanks I will download the free version. Can I set it to receive certain emails from Ebay and a Mailing List etc? I don't want their emails bounced lol.

to anyone who uses eudora, i happily endorse spamnix. it works using an algorithimic filter which you can easily train to recognise spam - even the less obvious kind - which it shunts off into a special 'spamnix' folder.

this last bit is quite important, imo. all spam filters will make the occasional mistake and it's as well to have the chance to look through the rejects folder once a day, to ensure there's nothing there that shouldn't be.

it isn't freeware but it remains 100% functional after the trial period is over - it pop-ups the occasional nag message which you can click off. as a result, i've gone from being swamped by spam to barely noticing it.

Consider using two (or more) e-mail addresses.

One keep only for your friends and business
people, this should reduce the spam to that id.

The other you can use for all sorts of things,
but ignore any mail you get as you know it
will probably be spam.

Oh, and if you are using hotmail then I think
spam is a way of life.

And for anyone not using Eudora does something very similar.

Mailwasher (was: Re: Spam help please)

TURN OFF THE 'BOUNCE' FEATURE IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!!!!!

It's against your ISPs Acceptable Usage Policy ('forging mailserver messages') so you could get into trouble.

More importantly, since 99% of Spammers use a faked 'From' address, all you are doing is sending them to some poor tosser who never spammed you in the first place and has just had his address hijacked!!!

I get 2-300 'bounce' messages a day after a spammer has sent out stuff with my domain in the 'From' address, and I don't need any more bogus ones from MAilwasher users.

NEVER EVER follow the UNSUBSCRIBE links either, that just tells the spammer that you and your email address exist, so they put it on a CD and sell it to other spammers

The thing is I don't know who will be emailing me as I sell on Ebay and people email me to ask questions. I just want to block this spam shite.
