Re: Sneaky tricks
I've been saying for ages that almost everything that you download comes along with some hidden program
P2Ps have long been a source of all of the worst known contaminents
I'm taking a leaf out of Magoos book and not downloading anything anymore......the performance of my PC is no worse without them
Its a minefield if you really think about it
cheers

Come on guys, get real.
What do you mean, you don't download anything. Everytime you log onto this site you download.
As I understand the security situation the precautions are
1) Have anti-virus software
2) Have a Firewall (which not only protects access to your computer but also prevents nasties from getting out).
3) Regularly screen for adware, spyware etc.
4) Don't download any software unless you know what it is.
Of course, if you want to be 100% safe, disconnect from the internet for ever.

Very pedantic Mart....lol
I no longer download any new free software, free games or go surfing the net for pictures/videos
You're right in anti-virus & firewalls but even running with these the next line of protection doesn't exist to after you've been infected
Then you have to hope that spyware programs have all known spyware listed-which I doubt
cheers
