Good news about Iraq!!!!

Post by mart »

In a newspaper report today there was a very encouraging quote from US Major General Raymond Odierno. " I believe within six months I think you're going to see some normalcy".

That can only mean one thing.... ahead of any elections (which, by the way, the White House was opposed to having as early as this year... so much for democracy!!!), Bagdhad will see the opening ceremony of it's first McDonalds, swiftly followed by KFC, Pizza Hut and a multiplex cinema showing all the Rocky films.

God Bless America!!!

Call me cynical, but I presume that "within six months" means just about the time that the Americans are due to go into the polling booths!!

Please don't get me started on why Bush shouldn't be in the White House anyway.

What's normalcy? Is it a brand only available in the US or can you get over here?

God forbid he actually meant another (similar) word but found it easier to make something up than find out what's correct.

It grates on my ears too, but 'normalcy' is correct usage, though mainly used in America - see Eric Partridge, Usage and Abusage, New Edition, 1994, p. 209.

The best news about Iraq is that it's a long, long way away.
