I didn't know until about a week ago that this wasn't a moment of inspirstion on the part Fred Durst and cronies, but a cover of The Who.
I can with all honesty say that I have never heard the original version. i don't suppose anybody knows where that the cheap bastard that I am can download this for free, preferably without signing up to a P2P?

If your birthday is before the venerable Marcus Allen's then you are.
As I write this the creative playcentre is currently on jukebox/random setting and has just started playing bizkit's version.
but regardless of the performer it is a top song.

Re: OT- good songwriters of today...where are they?
lol Bimmercat, gimme another 4-5 years and maybe you'll be able to judge mine...although dont expect anything more than wannabe-soundgarden metal but with proper stylistic techniques of old songiwriting that are overlooked now...
mmm Alex Kramer
Re: That "Behind Blue Eyes" re-make?
I think it's a really excellent version myself as did Townsend apparently. As for le Oo's best songs. I would say Won't Get Fooled Again, Baba O'Reilly, Emminence Front & all of side 4 from Quadrophenia - Doctor Jimmy, The Rock and Love Reign O'er Me. The live version of Baba O'Reilly featuring Nigel Kennedy on the live at the Albert Hall DVD is stunning.
Re: That "Behind Blue Eyes" re-make?
Quadro never sees to get anywhere in those 'Best Of' lists- underrated, IMO, but 'concept albums' are so often seen by critics as mere vanity projects devoid of any merit- which they often are, of course...........
Don't forget LAL in its entirety, and their version of Baby Don't You Do It (that on the flip side of the vinyl single of Join Together, not the 'weaker' album version).
