Stoopid answers to easy questions..

I'm constantly amazed by the morons who obviously had decided at some point that they were intellectually equiped to appear on TV in gameshows, but who then appear to have not the slightest knowledge of.....well, anything really!

Now i'm prepared to overlook the slip of the tongue, the blurted answer that the contestant new was wrong the moment they said it. But considered answers with no time limit, sometimes arrived at after consultation with a partner (as my first example is) should be named and shamed!!

1. Q. Bucharest is the capital city of which country? A. Belguim!!!

2. Q. At the battle of Waterloo, which leader's horse was named Copenhagen? ....now you would think that even if you didn't know the answer that you'd have a 50/50 chance of getting it right, wouldn't you? Not this woman.......A. Nelson ....unbelievable.

....and thanks to Beat the Nation yesterday, I know that 67% of women in this country don't know that it was the invasion of Poland....yes POLAND!...that precipitated WW2.

Now i've got no objections to these ignoramuses being stupid in the privacy of their own homes....but parading it on TV?!!! Why?

It's simple: being 'famous' for 5 minutes is more important to these fuckwits' self-esteem than parading their ignorance for the audience (8 pensioners and an arthritic Airedale, I assume)- indeed, being proud of ignorance can often be passed off as 'pretentiouslessness'- when of course, it is in fact an often fatal disease, and economically wounding in its milder forms.
As late as the early 20th century the Victorian 'self-improvement' hangover still applied, and many manual workers who had had almost no formal education would be acquainted with Ancient Greek or some equally esoteric subject. Now, stupidity seems to be the new cleverness........
