Printing web pages.

Post by mart »

Perhaps some forumite with a website can answer my question?
Are web pages a "standard" width? I have problems printing some without losing some of the sides. I've tried changing the margin settings on my printer but it doesn't help.

No they are not standard sizes, as you would see if you reduce the
size of your browser, the text should reflow to fit the width of the
page.

Some choices:

Is there an option to go to a 'print friendly' page, some web sites
offer this.

If it is only a couple of pages you could copy and paste the page
into a word processor such as Microsoft Word. You can then set
the formatting yourself.

Or you could save the web page onto your PC, then go into Word
and import the HTML text.

you could also change the printing to landscape mode.

to do this in Internet Explorer select Print Preview, then click on secodn button in from left at top, this is the print settings info, then select landscape.

the chances are the page will then fit within the borders of the printable page.

Thanks guys, I'll do some experimenting. It isn't surprising that there is no standard; after all there are still a multiplicity of screw threads and those must date back to the glorious days of Victorian engineering.
