I didn?t see you?d already confirmed Speedway as the sport, David. I?ve just searched with Google. The last World Final at Wembley was September 5th 1981. It?s hard to believe they went 20 years with no further motor-sport events.

Well done Boo2. You are correct. The World Championship that year was won by Bruce Penhall of the United States. The World Speedway Final was never staged at Wembley again. It is now run as a Grand Prix sysytem. The British G.P. is staged at the Millenium Stadium, Cardiff in June.

Wembley memorabilia

Post by Boo2 »

There was a company that started up in 2001, just opposite from us, who bought all the Wembley seats, to sell off. Their whole get-rich-quick scheme went belly-up, they ended up being mentioned on Watch-Dog!! They stuck their heads in the sand and went AWOL. It wasn?t a scam though, they?d just over-estimated how many people wanted an ugly old plastic seat as garden patio furniture.
