I've challenged your statements about Libya and UN inspectors before Bimmercat. Of course they didn't know about the feckin weapons, they weren't in Libya.
As for supplying weapons to the IRA, I have heard that a country on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean may have had some involvement too. I can't name it because you will accuse me of being anti-********.

It's a sad fact that in some respects the situation in many of the former Soviet Union countries is worse. Corruption is rife, crime is horrendous, health care is pitiful, wages are miserably low if people get paid at all. Is it surprising that many "ordinary" people might think they were better off under the old system.

I don't disagree with you at all here Bimmercat. When I made my remarks about democracy in Eastern Europe, I was thinking of Russia itself, plus those countries about to join the European Union and have joined NATO. I was not referring to those former Soviet states now run by gangsters and loony tunes.

Cynical though it may seem, there's no votes to be won in dilpomatic victories. It takes a good healthy war, and lots of flag waving, to push a politician's popularity.
