Very good, but the Colosseum was not built until 80AD, 124 years after Julius Caesar's death!
Re: I appologise for this.....
never knew that david so was caliguia b4 caesar or after, thee was a series repeated called the caesars with barbara murray in the 80s,i always thought the colllie was where they put on plays when caesar reinged as ruler.
Re: I appologise for this.....
Julius Caesar was murdered on 15th March, 44BC. Caligula was emperor from 37AD until he too was murdered in 41AD. The Colosseum was completed under Titus, but was the braichild of his father, Vespasian. Vespasian was the first of a line of pragmatic Roman emperors, the Romans had had enough of loony tunes like Caligula and Nero! Every Roman emperor after Julius Caesar had the title Caesar. Indeed it has carried on into the modern era, the German word Kaiser means Caesar. A further point of interest is that the operation Caesarian insection is so called because it is thought that Julius Caesar was born this way in 100BC. This could not be possible because although the Romans carried out the surgical procedure, the mother never survived. Julius Caesar's mother was still alive well into his adulthood. He was also epiletic. His records of his military campaigns still survive to the present day. No other general's military records from the ancient world still survive.
