The terrible irony to all this, of course, is that of all the nations on earth, the Jews should know what it's like to oppressed by a more powerful nation for no very obvious reason other then being a bit different.

Some of the Israeli populace, especially the Sabras, have little knowledge of the Holocaust and seem quite happy to support the perpetration of one of their own. I can understand wanting to defend your hard-won nation amidst a sea of hostile territories, but 'pre-emptive' action is unconscionable in any circumstance (Dubya p[lease note).
Many young Israelis cannot understand the apparent spinelessness of their elders against the Nazis ('why didn't you fight'? Of course, many did- and died), and the sight of a faded tattoo often inites a nasty remark from these charming youngsters............
I expect there are many young Sabras who are bitterly opposed to Fatboy Sharon's genocide. Funny I haven't met any, though........but anyone I've met old enough to have direct experience of the War seems revulsed by Sharon.
