Yeah, but can you imagine S56 on an Arab footer match?

"He's a bit dodgy, that one, looks like he's going to pick the ref's pocket, never trust the buggers, out for a fast buck......."
I'd give him about 3 minutes before getting himself killed by angry Muslims.
"a harmless drudge, that busies himself in tracing the original, and detailing the
signification...."

I hate it nowadays. I DID watch it when it was HUGE in the early 80's, but I did see the argy bargy between 2 players on Grandstand yesterday. I wish that had spilled over.

The West London of my youth is now on dvd

All the characters seem to have died or retired...Pot Black with whispering Ted Lowe even made it down under thanks to Eddie Charlton

Recently watched a comedy sketch which summed snooker up

Guy pots a red from the break....1.....pots yellow....another 1

Its only saving grace is that sports like
Billiards & Chess exist

cheers

I was sent a great video from on of BGAFD's finest called Number One about snooker. Excellent film EXCEPT starring role was Bob Geldoff, BUT before he decided to get canonised, so bearing THAT in mind, made it 'acceptable viewing' IMO
