British Public Holidays
British Public Holidays
I wonder how many people agree with my view that public holidays outside Christmas and Easter have passed their sell-by date? They are unevenly distributed, and I am sure most people would prefer 3 days added to their annual holiday entitlement, to take at a time of their choosing.

bring back whitsun i say.
Re: British Public Holidays
Why exempt the so-called 'Christian' festivals? All based on about 10% of the population.
Give me an extra 10 days, and scrap the bloody lot.
New Year? Fine.

Re: British Public Holidays
I get :
30 days paid leave
10 1/2 days public holidays
48 days a year flexi leave
giving a total of 88 1/2 days paid holidays a year.
As my office is only open 261 days a year
This means I only have to work for 70% of the working year !!.
It`s not that bad working for the Inland Revenue !

Re: British Public Holidays
Working from home as I do, I like bank holidays because they are about the only days when my phone doesn't ring... otherwise I'd have no time off at all.
Last holiday I had was in September 2000 when I went to Budapest for a week. I doubt I shall have time (or the money) for a holiday this year.
We in Britain get fewer bank holidays than many other European countries. However the spacings are a little haphazard... two in May and then nothing until August (when many people go on holiday anyway!).
