Post by spigly »

Sounds very strange...maybe your problem isn't firewall related?

Which sites?

When you say you don't see the pics what do you see? red crosses?

I just finished the trial of zone alarm pro and the only problems I had were getting access to certain sites altogether

I'm no expert but all you can do with zone alarm is lower the settings

I'd never disable your firewall especially if your on a broadband connection

If your still tempted to disable it make sure you've got backup security like that listed under free anti-parasite programs at

When I've surfed without a firewall I've used Spybot(with all the bad servers blocked through Spybot advanced/tools/host file added) ,Spyblaster and uptodate Norton Anti-Virus with no problems....touch wood

Even surfing like this I still encounter sites that won't play ball even when I hit forced refresh

If you want to see how vulnerable you are without the firewall run shields up at

cheers

Hi
Yes sometimes I get little red crosses, and sometimes the homepage opens O K, but when I try to open pages from the homepage nothing happens, but if I disable Zone Alarm everything works OK
I have tried lowering the settings, running them full, and the obvious choice default, and I still get the problem, not on all sites I might add, this site, and Yahoo groups are OK, and news groups are O K, I use Newsrover for this but I never turn Zone Alarm off on Newsrover it is to dangerous.
Maybe as you suggest it is not a problem with Zone Alarm but with different sites, they may have different settings, anothe thing I forgot to mention, once I turn Zone Alarm off everything works O K,and I can turn Zone Alarm back on and the site works O K for that particular visit, but once I log off and then return I have to go through the same procedure over again.

Its over my head...all I can suggest is that you have a hunt around on the net for specific computer forums relating to your operating system

A couple I've used with success are

has seperate forum for firewalls
