Agree with diplodocus about Mankind - its a good yarn

Either of the Dave Gorman books (Googlewhack adventure or are you dave gorman) are great fun, albeit short, reads.

In the last fortnight I've re-read for pleasure Ernest Shackleton's 'South' about the Endurance Expedition to Antarctica in 1914, and Eric Newby's 'Love and War in the Apennines' about the latter's experiences as a POW and escapee on the run in 1942-43 and how he met his remarkable wife. I think both are superb.

They are also autobiographical in some way.

I've also read a couple of others in the last week or so for work purposes but I'd doubt you'd want to read them. I didn't.

Have you read 'My LIfe in Suspenders', a hilarious account of one man's rip-roaring adventures as a travelling lingerie salesman?

Or I can recommend Julius Goatstretcher's new opus, The Big Book of Burps, a fully-illustrated historical account (with index, and complete bibliography) of mankind's noblest endeavours in the field of eructations, flatulence and borborygmi. Published by Puffin & Fartin, Price ?49.95, supplements issued every Saturday night, when the pubs close.

Kiss and Make Up by Gene Simmons of KISS fame is surprisingly good ( Random House ). I am only a fan of a few Kiss songs and thought the band was over rated etc, but this is very interesting because he just lets go with what he thinks of everyone and tells lots of stories about behind the scenes stuff etc. You can open it anywhere and start reading as its basically a collection of thoughts about his time in Kiss.

Is that the Colombian fullback killed for the own goal in thr World Cup 1994
World Cup or have I got my names mixed up?

I've always found the Craig Johnston story-Walk Alone-a great and inspirational read giving that he put club ahead of country always
but at great sacrifice

A 15 year old Aussie who basically went to England and made it to the top with the Liverpool Soccer Club at its height
