Have you tried a different font? If that doesnt work try using a different word processor (wordpad for example) - at least way you can elimate the font and / or the application.

If that doesnt work then the next best recommendation would be to re install the drivers (you can get the latest from )

If that still makes no difference then try running a virus scan and spyware search just in case there is something more sinister going on - if all that fails then either go get a pen out and write the letter or post more information here like version of OS, version of word and any other pertinent info on your computer!

True type fonts are ones that when you write your letter appear the same on the paper !

Call me daft but maybe a look at the settings/printers/properties would be in order

I dont think this is whats causing it and it doesnt really apply any more except on some of the larger more specialist laser printers - historically printers used to come with a certain number of fonts installed and then had to have additional fonts installed on the actual printer itself which sometimes meant if you tried to print an obscure font which the printer didnt have installed it would substitute a font (usually courier). However this is not the case with modern inkjet and low end GDI type laser printers as they use the fonts on the system and the operating system to print anything and no substituting occurs.

Either way magoos problem is not substituting so the above is completely irrelevant but there is rarely something I feel qualifed to comment on on these forums (well except about northern ireland but I think our own personal peace process is holding quite well magoo so lets not go there again :P) so when there is I take my chance!!!
