Porn addiction?

Can there be such a thing as porn addiction? I mean in the same way that one can be addicted to alcohol or drugs, because I think I may have it. Signs include being constantly addicted to the top shelf whenever one walks in the local newsagent, and having a collection of mags / vids that could fill an aircraft hanger. i think you know you have have porn addiction when you conede that you finally have to off load some of your precious collection and realise that you just cant seem to do it!Its taken me over two hours to weed out two bin sacks full of top shelf filth - and it scares me to think of the hours i've spent looking at the stuff!And yes I have a girlfriend too, so work that out! Any similar stories out there?

There was a long discussion on this topic about 2 years ago, before the forums split.
Not too sure if any firm conclusions were drawn, but we got to call each other some choice names........

No! we are ok with our warehouses full of erotica and filth, it,s just you I,m afraid, if you need some help contact Magoo, he is the forum councillor, and will gladly take it of your hands to build a new extention on Magoo Mansions.
On a more serious note, I wouldn,t call it an addiction, once you have watched one porn film, you want to see another, just like DVD,s of ordinary films, and CD,s etc
All you need to do is gather 70% of your collection, leaving your best films, and throw/ give the rest away, if you cant THEN you may have a problem, but not an addiction, your just a tight wad!

Most people collect something as Lizard says

I frequently give Porn away....I just don't see the point in watching a scene/scenes again & again apart from tapes that have been specifially put together-the cream of the crop so to speak

Its when any activity starts eating into the time you should be spending elsewhere that you would call it an addiction

Best example I can think of was a married guy who used to surf the net for hours(not in secret) looking at porn in preference to giving his wife(not pig ugly) a good seeing too

He had a real problem

spunkie - im currently reading a book about addictions and yes sex and porn are very well known addictions.

exhustion
make-up
hurrying
reading
scratching
masturbating
getting ill
day dreaming
celibacy
money hoarding

so dont worry - sounds like theres plenty of other people out there with far worse things they are addicted to.

right now im of to compulsively tidy my house!
