Poncey Boxing

Post by Ace »

An insult to boxing that was the bollocks that BBC put on last night for Sport Relief, Ben Fogle v Sid Owen. It was plain embarrasing to watch these ponces 'try' and box, and even more stomach churning was the audience cheering these slags on.
If you want to see what boxing REALLY was, Channel 4 late tuesday evening 02.45am (theoretically Wednesday) Foreman v Frazier from Jamaica 1973. An all-time classic. Just imagine WHERE Foreman got his power from as he literally knocked Frazier OFF his feet.

there's been some cracking old fights shown on late night telly this year on channel 4 and 5. This week they showed the Benn /McLelland fight which I never thought would ever been seen on telly again due to the tragic ending, it's still a total classic though and probably Benn's best win IMO

we are Leeds.... , and we can still beat the mighty Chester

Now THAT does suprise me considering Geralds state afterwards. I really am suprised at C4 for showing that. I wonder if Eubank v Watson 2 is on next week?

That was a bit of an unfair contest. Foggle had about 8 inches and 30lbs over Owen. Hopefully the public took that into consideration when voting.

Isn?t that why that celebrity boxing series stopped, because the boxing governing council (whatever their called) said these contests were bringing boxing into to disrepute? I think they?re good fun, especially as they?re for charity. Stan Colleymore vs. Vinny Jones, that would be a good?un!

Talking of Eastenders and charity. A very reliable source told me, Sid Owen and Steve McFadden (Phil Mitchell) opened a Kwik-Fit in Chelmsford, some years back and got ?2000 a piece plus travelling expenses, for about an hours work.

yeah, I can believe that. About 7 or so years ago, Phil and Grant characters were the 'Stars behind the Bar' at the local nightclub here. Expenses plus 'cash' of approx ?2,500 each for a nights work, all they did was serve lager only, no mixers, cocktails or anything.
Good work if you can get it

Back to the boxing, at least the 2 put in a tremendous effort to try and gain the upper hand to the point of exhaustion, I liked it when the cocky wee Owen twat waltzed in to the ring and would have like to have seen him leave on a stretcher and not just suffering dehydration, but really the losers on the night that I felt ashamed for were Fogles and Owens trainers, what the fuck were they supposed to have taught them??
PEOPLE think Stephen Hawking is so clever, but when you ask him a question and he is typing in the answer on his little screen, how do we know he isn't just looking up the answer on the Internet?

you are right Crofter, Bruno and Maloney are/were respected in the boxing game, their credibilty has been shot down in flames after that.
Funniest line was when the respected Oirish commentator suggested Sid Owen looked as though he needed a cigerette when he collapsed on his stool at the end of round 3.
Ive seen better action any given Friday/saturday night in town outside the obligitory kebab van
