Spyware?

Post by sylla »

Help.....what's the best way to get rid of it? I've run 'ad aware,' but even when I quarantine that lot, I'm still getting told I'm infected?
Any help greatly appreciated.

What tells you that you are infected? Are you sure you don't have a virus?

I use Ad Aware and Spybot Search and Destroy. I find if I download the latest meta files and run it will clean the PC well.

However if you visit the same offending websites again it will just recreate the cookie / whatever again, they won't protect you on the fly like a virus checker.

The use of ad blockers and pop up blockers also helps make browsing more pleasurable. I used to use Tweak XP for blocking when I used Internet Explorer. Now I have moved to using Firefox browser it has a built in pop up blocker and is less exposed to vulnerabilities that IE.

I find most spyware is a minor annoyance and can be tolerated. The big exception to me is Gator, and I refuse to have anything to do with any company involved with that pile of shit. Come the revolution they will be the first people up against the wall...
