I just didn't get it, or why the Yanks thrive on it. Granted, a few sketches were legendary, but it did absolutely nothing for me, although I did like 'Doug and Dinsdale' a shameless rip-off of Ronnie and Reggie Kray.
Much preferred Spike Milligans Q8 with its nudity

Re: Monty Python
Some of the Pythons stuff was and is still hilarious, but I seem to be in the minority as well, I found some of their stuff absolutely tedious, just TOO stupid and pointless, seem to remember that Ben Dovers better half Linzie Drew featured quite heavily in the nudity stakes of spikes Q8 show though which wasn?t a bad thing.
PEOPLE think Stephen Hawking is so clever, but when you ask him a question and he is typing in the answer on his little screen, how do we know he isn't just looking up the answer on the Internet?
Re: Monty Python
Like all ground-breaking comedy (or indeed any art-form) you have to take risks and experiment- and they may not all work. I can remember some dire scenes in the Python TV series- but the high number of incredible hits made the former seem trivial.

Re: Monty Python
It still makes me laugh.
Some of it just didn't come off, and some sketches (The Spanish Inquisition is a good example) skated very close to genius without actually achieving it.
Anyone who doesn't laugh at Sam Peckinpah's Salad Days doesn't deserve a sense of humour.

Re: Monty Python
I LOVE the fish-slapping dance: the sight of two grown men being daft, dressed in tropical gear on a rainy day in Richmond, with two large stuffed salmon, like the Ministry of Silly Walks, speaks volumes about the British sense of snobbery and class, and the human condition in general.
OK, it's just SO fucking funny.
I can't help it........
